Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Mr. Knauss and I would like to take this time to reintroduce myself as one of the upper school social studies teachers at QISS. I am a Temple University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary social studies education, along with a dual major in History. My past teaching experiences range from teaching 8th grade early U.S. history, to high school Economics, African-American history, World History, and grade 7 Ancient Civilizations. I am very excited at the opportunity to work with your child again this school year as a member of the QISS community.
I have very high expectations for all students in my classroom. Students will be held accountable for their own behavior. Each student will be expected to follow the QISS discipline standards. Students are expected to come to class each day prepared to learn with all required materials including a pencil, a folder designated specifically for social studies, and any teacher provided materials. It is very important to inspire a sense of responsibility in each student for their education. It is my goal to prepare my students to be lifelong learners equipped to handle the challenges of the twenty-first century.
Students will be discussing and engaging in various concepts and topics throughout the school year. We intend to discover aspects of social studies geared towards the specific curriculum of the course. I am eager to share my passion for social studies with your student this school year. Please be sure to read the classroom guidelines with your child. Thank you and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns this year. I look forward to meeting you at the QISS Open House on August 30, 2017.
Sincerely,
Mr. Knauss
